Resourcefulness...

The boys were helping Harold clean out our shed the other day, and they were getting ready to get rid of an ice cream maker that had gotten broken.  John Wesley decided he needed to repurpose it since it's motor still worked fine.  He'd been wanting to make a rock tumbler ever since our trip out west when he saw all the cool rock shops.  The problem was that he could never come up with just the right materials.

An old ice cream maker motor, some odd wheels, some scrap wood and a peanut butter jar--voila'--a rock tumbler!  I tell you that boy is resourceful!

Love it. What a brain he has. Very interested in how his rocks turn out!! So neat!

What I think is so neat is that when John Wesley thinks about something like this, he sometimes has it all drawn out and knows exactly what he needs to build it. Most of the time, he even knows where he can find what he needs. He is really precise. I think he has a great mind, and dreams, BUT he takes action on it. His projects always work -usually the first time.It will be interesting to see what all he does with his mind as he grows older.

WHAT is a rock tumbler? LoL

Becca, a rock tumbler just uses sand and the tumbling motion to smooth rocks to make them look nicer. You can also polish them to make them fancy. How's the baby?

Hey Lori, Grace is good. We went through a rough couple of weeks where she was crying most of the night, but we seem to be past that now, thank God! Now she's only waking up once during the night.

The rock tumbler is neat! That John Wesley seems like a handy guy to have around.

About your goat's milk - until our supply moved away to Chicago, we paid $8 a gallon for raw goat's milk! And we drank it raw. Save yourself the time and go for it. :-)
